We all experience change ; it is as inevitable as gravity. Like gravity the way we experience it is dependent on a number of factors. The process of transition is key to change, this is contextual and requires self awareness , the effects of the physical environment and the people we associate with at these key moments.
The Art of Transition is about unpacking the core elements involved in bringing about change as smoothly and effectively as possible.
Sometimes it's about handling the things we can't control and learning how to bounce up when we need to.
At other times major change can be positive or negative like being promoted or facing career transition ,at these pivot points there will be challenges to our accustomed behaviour and identities.
The need at very least requires people who can support the change process ;and at times would require a physical space that aids a change of mindset.
The Art of Transition aims to meet those pivot point needs by providing tools that help individuals process; we also do regular group workshops where individuals get to learn experientially in safe environments . We have a dedicated space within the Julian Alps to explore learn and play in a liminal space with fellow sojourners for a period of time. It is a space of comfort and challenge which will move you closer to or even at a desired goal.

When you get married to someone and in the ceremony the poem "The Owl and the Pussycat" is a key reading you sort of realise that this union could be a little different. For both of us life could have been a little more comfortable in that I (Johnson) had a steady job and Marie had plenty to occupy her time with. So we realised that letting go with the aim of pioneering something was more exciting than merely holding onto comfort.
I have been a medic for over twenty years, whilst at the same time training and working as a counsellor and coach, I took a year to explore beyond the boundaries of the "safe" environment of a beautiful space in Yorkshire and entered the invigorating world of London to make a study of Creativity,Innovation and Leadership.
Marie is an artist with an ability to make the hidden known. She has a remarkable gift of hospitality and can bring a sense of peace to the space she inhabits.
I (Marie) love welcoming strangers into our home and having them leave as friends. We have the privilege of living in a beautiful place which we enjoy sharing with others.
Together we as a couple have created a home away from home. A stopping place within the Slovenian Alps where people can experience comfort and challenge in exploring life's turning points in safety.
Slovenia is an unspoilt gem within Europe. It's natural beauty is matched only by the warmth of the people. Geographically it lies between Austria to the north and Italy to the south. It's valleys are lush and green with mountain peaks that extend towards the heavens.
Within the Soca valley the pace of life is relaxed while the Alpine landscape provides a host of sporting opportunities.
The area is renown for outdoor activities such as white water rafting, canyoning and paragliding. There are a number of beautiful walks ranging from the easy to more adventurous scrambles.
In the winter there is a choice of ski resorts nearby.
Our home in Kozaršče is 40 minutues from Trieste and 2 hours from Venice or Ljubljana airport.
The house sits at the edge of a small community and from the bottom of the drive there is a choice of walks to view points where stunning views can be had.
Within a ten minute walk lies the Soca river, the emerald water at this point is calm and allows for gentle paddles in kayaks followed by cafe time on the riverbank.
There are five guest bedrooms each with it's individualised style and views of of the surrounding mountains.
